Nice Outdoor Furniture Covers

Outdoor furniture covers are indispensable when it comes to protecting chairs, tables and reclining chairs from weather conditions. Patio furniture covers can also cover tables and chairs during the winter season, which provides weather protection against the elements.

Make Covers for Lounge Chairs. Buy multi-meter weather fabrics, such as tarpaulin, PVC-backed polyester, rip stop, nylon or custom-made canvas (such as the Sunbrella brand). You need enough fabric to cover the entire surface of your chair as well as all four sides down to the ground. Lay your outdoor furniture covers fully flat or, if possible, fold the back of the chair forward until it is against the seat. Measure the length and width of the collapsed or extended chair. (The typical size of an extended armchair is about 62 inches by 24 inches.) Cut a large rectangle of fabric to size, making 2 extra inches on each side.

Measure the distance from the ground to the top of the chair. If your outdoor furniture covers is completely flat, you will only need to take a measurement. If the backrest is still angled slightly, take two measurements, one from the lowest and highest parts of the chair to the ground. Using these measurements, cut four pieces of cloth to fit around the sides of your chair, again allow 2 extra inches on each edge. Pin one of your side marks to the top piece of fabric, 1 inch from the edges, with the wrong sides of the fabric upward. Use a sewing machine to sew along the line of pins using heavy nylon or other outdoor thread.
